When you first think of what a slot called Cash Pig would like, it likely wouldn’t be what the game actually is: a luxury-themed slot staged amidst the glittering lights of Las Vegas.
Before taking on this review, we had thought initially that this would be a farm-themed slot. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Booming Games’ Cash Pig goes all-in on the luxury, with tons of symbols representing many aspects of the high life, such as fancy sports cars, diamond rings, and uncut gems.
We would later find out that the game is called Cash Pig because it contains a Piggy Bank symbol that pays out the combined value of the coins you accrued on the reels. Don’t expect any mud-encrusted pigs here, as it’s all glitz and glamour as soon as you start up the game.
The game’s action is hosted on a 5x4 reel grid, which is a fairly popular reel set-up, with 30 fixed paylines to go after.
The reels are populated by various symbols of opulence. The low-paying symbols are card symbols (10 to A), while the high-paying symbols are the private jet, the sports car, the fancy watch, and the diamond ring. The high-paying symbols each have a golden version, which pays out twice the normal amount when you hit.
Cash Pig is as simple as they come in the slots world. The action comes fast and heavy, due mainly to its high volatility. As a result, you can expect some serious swings in the action. Low-rollers would do well to keep an eye out on their bankroll while playing this game, as the variance can lead to heavy hits if you are not careful.
The game is designed to give players a taste of the sweet life, but we cannot help but feel that the art style used in this game is terrible for that purpose.
We personally aren’t big fans of luxury-themed slots, as that kind of branding is pretty much the norm all over the online casino world, and can get kind of corny if the developer doesn’t do a great job with the art.
Booming Games’ chosen art for this game feels old. They look like the computer-generated visuals from the 1980s, with non-descript rings, watches, gems, planes, cars, and champagne classes—all of which is encountered on a daily basis by any regular online casino player. The Vegas showtune soundtrack is also too on the nose for our taste, and had to be muted for our longer sessions.
Cash Pig is not the best slot choice for players who want a bit more oomph when it comes to bonus features, as the list of features here is a bit basic.
The game offers wild symbols, scatter symbols, re-spins, and cascading symbols. As we mentioned earlier, there are also gold coin symbols with specific amounts attached to them. Hit the Piggy Bank symbol to take home all the coin amounts you hit in the spin.
The wild symbol is the diamond. It can replace all other symbols in your spin to build bigger and better combinations, except for scatters, coins, and collect icons.
The scatter symbol is two champagne flutes. Hit three of them on reels 1, 3, and 5 to get 12 free spins. Hit three more scatters in the free spin game to get six additional free spins.
During the free spin game, hit any minor symbols to launch the cascading tiles feature. You can also trigger the feature by combining the wild symbol with minor symbols to book a win. If you hit a winning combo with major symbols, they will be replaced by golden versions of the symbols, paying out twice the standard amount. These golden symbols will remain in place until your free spins run out.
Cash Pig offers a bare-bones auto play tool, which you can access by clicking on the small “+” tab at the left side of the spin button. You can set up a spin session of 50 spins, which you can stop at any time once you want to take over. Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of ways to tweak your auto spin session in this slot.
One way that Cash Pig’s high volatility can benefit you is its chunky 8,000x max payout. However enticing this figure is at first glance, Booming Games dropped the ball a bit when it came to its RTP rate, which is a middling 95.1%.
That RTP is just too low to compete with all the other slots out there with similar max payouts. Some progressive jackpots have better RTPs than this game, which is an ominous sign for a non-progressive slot.
We also have to note that the bet range in this game is a bit wonky. The minimum bet is a higher than average $0.30, and the game’s bet sizes can be adjusted in set amounts.
Booming Games built their name on retro slots that cater to long-time denizens of the brick-and-mortar scene. The company has released dozens of slots with the same standard Las Vegas theme. We generally recommend their games to older players who can appreciate the level of detail Booming Games put into recreating that unmistakable slot parlor vibe into their online casino offerings.
Cash Pig is a decent enough slot game, but falters a bit when compared to other games in its category. Even if you enjoy high-volatility slots, the RTP of this game is too low to justify consistent gameplay.
As a non-progressive game, the 8,000x max win here is compelling, but the 95.1% RTP rate and its high volatility ensures that such a big win will be too rare to even think about while playing.
We also feel that Booming Games could have done more to create a glitzier feel here, especially with regards to the art style, as it is too retro to evoke the luxury they are going for.
